AGARTALA, July 24 (TIWN): On the occasion of 4th Anniversary of ward no. 20 of Agartala Municipal Corporation on Friday at Mahatma Gandhi Higher Secondary School AMC has taken up various initiatives to celebrate the day.
The programme was inaugurated by AMC Mayor Dr. Prafullajit Sinha.
To celebrate the auspicious day, AMC has organized a felicitation programme, sit and draw competition, blood donation camp, sapling plantation programme and many others, confirmed Samar Kumar Bhattacharjee.
The programme of sit and draw competition and sapling plantation programme has started in the morning followed by a blood donation camp. At the sit and draw competition around 300 children have participated.
Around 50 people have voluntarily donated blood.
In the evening at around 4 pm the senior citizens will be felicitated and other programmes will also be witnessed.
During the programme which will be witnessed in the evening, Urban Development Minister Manik Dey is expected to remain present at the programme. Mayor Prafullajit Sinha is also expected to remain present at the programme.
The Agartala Municipal Corporation is the municipal body which governs and maintains the city of Agartala, the capital of Tripura and is the second-largest city in North-east India.
Formed in the year 1871 the oldest municipal body in Northeast India, AMC had a vital role in developing & modernizing the state and managing in its various activities.
This civic administrative body administers an area of 76.5 km2. AMC is headed by Dr. Prafulla Jit Sinha the present Mayor of Agartala.
The Municipal Corporation consists of councilors elected by the residents of the city. The city is divided into municipal wards and each ward elects a councilor to the Council.
