AGARTALA, July 21 (TIWN): Jumpuijala block level Vanmahotsav was celebrated at Golaghati High School, Information and Cultural Minister Bhanulal Saha inaugurated the programmed.
The programmed was organized with the joint initiatives of the Jumpuijala Block and Jumpuijala Range Office.
Addressing at the programmed, Minister Saha urged to plant trees at every houses to maintain the ecological balance. People must be aware about the benefits of the trees and the essential role played by the trees to maintain the ecology and how the curing of trees can cause global warming.
Further, Forest Minister Naresh Jamatia stated that the human existence is related with the forest. It needs to be understood that trees are an effective way to prevent global warming and reduce pollution. Van Mahotsava is celebrated as a festival of life.
He also focused on the issue that along with the increase in the forest sector in that state, initiative must be taken to on how to utilize the forest in getting financially self reliant.
During the programmed, MLA Niranjan Debbarma, MLA Keshab Debbarma, MDC Santosh Debbarma and Mayarani Debbarma were present. PCCF Sanatan Talukdar, DFO S. Prabhu and representatives were present.
The festival was started in the year 1950 by the Ministry for Agriculture. Every year, under the support of various state governments, millions of saplings are planted all across state.
All over the country, people are encouraged to plant trees. This practice is observed by schools all over the country. Students are encouraged to plant trees. This helps in making the students better citizens and also spreads awareness as to the adverse effects of cutting trees.
