AGARTALA, July 8 (TIWN): With the aim to scrutinize the development work of Kathalia Panchayat area, a review meeting was held at kathalia Panchayat Samiti on Tuesday, in the presence of Labour Minister Shahid Chowdhury.

Speaking at the review meeting Minister Shahid Chowdhury discussed on the development of various projects implemented here in kathalia Panchayat area and what are the problems being faced by the authority while undergoing the work of this projects at various phases.

All the representatives of different departments have to finish the entire developmental work in the given time, added Chowdhury.

Further he gathered information about the present status of the electricity facility, education, cattle farming, fish cultivation, transportation and health condition of the concerned area and asked the relative departments to speed up their work for the development of the area soon.

In the meeting it was also decided for the immediate renovation of the road of Berjimara village.

Addressing the meet Kathalia block BDO stated that under Multi sectoral development project, an amount of 8 crore 90 lakh and 44 thousand was sanctioned.  With this money, constructions of 75 houses are underway and 177 project works are scheduled to be done. In several areas re-construction of school building is going on along with the facility of computer lab and sanitation facility.  

Speaking at the meeting Drinking water and healthcare department officials stated that under MSDP, 3 deep tube wells along with 2 IRP, 32km long pipe line, 4 reservoirs and 13 sanitary toilets to build up in 13 schools.

Electricity department representative confirmed that as part of providing improved electricity facility in the border areas, work has already begun to provide new updated electricity connection in the areas.

Hybrid cultivation of paddy in 1,150 hectare of land is adopted for this year, said Agriculture department official in the meeting.

However, MLA Shyamal Chakraborty, Kathalia Panchayat Samiti Chairman, Vice-chairman, representatives of several departments along with other dignitaries remained present in the meeting.
