Presiding Officers accused for acting rough to the Medias at Pratapgarh constituency

AGARTALA, June 27 (TIWN): Leaving no stone unturned the presiding officers on yet another poll here in Tripura have been accused for acting rough with a section of media persons on Saturday at 13-Pratapgarh constituency 26 number of booth. It was alleged that the concerned security forces acting on behest of the presiding officers at the polling booths managed to restrict media persons from covering the by-election voting at the constituency despite having a valid pass of the election commission. Asked about the reason for the ‘restriction’ the concerned security forces said, “It has been ordered by the presiding officer inside to restrict the media from entering the booth.” Adding to that the security forces also said, “We have nothing to do as we are asked to restrict the Medias.” The media persons despite having a valid pass from the election commission were restricted on Saturday from entering the 26 number booth under 13-Pratapgarh constituency.However, later after being contacted with the SDM (Sadar) Manik Lal Das, he expressing displeasure over the act of the presiding officers warned them to not repeat the same with the media persons as only those who have a valid pass can enter the booth to cover the on-going polling.

It is worthy to mention here that this is nothing exceptional on behalf of the presiding officers who often come out highlighted harassing the media persons and restricts them from entering the polling booths despite having a valid pass.

But, the incident occurred on Saturday at the 13-Pratapgarh constituency had of course triggered a serious questions among the concerned presiding officers.

The voting for 13-Pratpgarh constituency and 46-Surma constituency had kicked off on Saturday from 8:00 AM and is expected to complete by 5:00 PM. However, a total of 92, 146 voters on Saturday would decide the fate of the aspirants of the two candidates.
