KAMALPUR, June 27 (TIWN): Whether it might be the political parties or administration, whenever an election approached, the authority became busy in praising the media by emphasizing its role and responsibilities.
The air became so heavy with those praising that, the commoners and even the media persons sometimes became bound to feel that the time was of media. But the ground reality unveiled something quite opposite.Sometimes it became a means of humiliating the media. And in this case regarding the present bye-election, even the administration of ‘golden regime’ failed to show its highly trumpeted ‘down to the people attitude’.Form covering the voting process of the bye-election of Surma, the media persons applied through their concerning houses to the Tripura Election Commission. Likewise, the Commission issued passes to the media persons.
The passes were sent to the District Magistrate, Dhalai. Through the ICA Department and the respective media houses, the correspondents were told to collect the passes from the DM Office. Now, the Dhalai DM office is at a distance of 40 kilometers from Kamalpur and the office started the distribution of passes from 4 pm onwards.
It is very much impossible to come back Kamalpur from DM Complex after 4 pm if one not arranges for personal or hired vehicles. Moreover, the authority denied giving the pass of one correspondent to another. But the Election Commission or the District administration could easily bestow the responsibility to the concerning SDM or ICA official.
Ridiculously, the administration holds back to their age old notion of feudalism and the head of the administration would shamelessly continue to render knowledge on media coverings to the media persons. A golden regime indeed!
