KHOWAI June 27 (TIWN): For the first of its kind here in Tripura a youth has been arrested by the Kolkata Malda Police on Friday on charge of uploading unclothed photo of a Kolkata girl in a social networking site, face book. The youth has been identified as Arup Deb son of Manik Deb, a resident of Tripura, Khowai. The youth was found to have uploaded obscene photo of the Kolkata girl.
Receiving a complaint on February 12, 2015 the Kolkata, Malda Police Station police handed over the case to the Kolkata CID, Cyber Crime branch following which the three members’ team of police from Kolkata cyber crime branch rushed to Tripura, Khowai and after carrying out an enquiry arrested the youth Arup Deb.
According to the police, the youth Arup Deb often used to chat with the Kolkata girl on a social networking site and also proposed her to get engaged with him several times, but after the girl refused to accept his proposal, Arup Deb, a resident of Khowai managed to upload an obscene photo of the girl in the social networking site.
However, following this the girl (name hidden) registered a complaint with the Kolkata, Malda Police Station. She was a resident of Kolkata. The obscene photo was uploaded on January 26 and another on January 27 this year.
Police registered the case against the Arup Deb of Tripura, Khowai under section 67 IT Act and Adding Prayer 354/354D. The case number is 70/15.
Following the complaint registered by the girl of Kolkata the Kolkata CID cyber crime branch police rushed to Tripura on June 25 and carried out an enquiry against the youth identified as Arup deb.
However, on Friday the police managed to arrest the youth. A three members’ delegation team of the Kolkata cyber crime police has come to the state.
