KHOWAI, June 23 (TIWN): Resident of Khowai District once again witnessed the malaria out-breaks; two more teenagers including a child have been exposed to the risk of malaria on Monday at various Primary Health Centres of Khowai.

They were admitted to the hospital with high fever, confirmed doctor Arindam Debbarma.

With no lesson learned from the previous episode here in Tripura where as many as villagers of the hilly terrain breathed their lasts effected with malaria germs, the State Left Front Government had failed to bring the epidemic down yet today. Though of course the number of patients has come down, but the outbreak still prevails in the remote villages of the state.

Talking to TIWN, Doctor Arindam Debbarma said that after collecting the blood sample and taken for the examination level of malaria virus was measured high in both patients’ blood. The concern doctor of the hospital will take necessary initiatives to bring the fever under control. If the patients do not get cure in time then the authorities will refer the patients to the GB Hospital, Agartala.

In another incident, Chakti Tripura (15), another teenager was admitted to the Tulashikhar Block Primary Health Center after she was suffering from high fever. Concern doctors collected the blood sample. The resident of Mungiyakami Block area was then admitted to the hospital after high level of Malaria virus positive was found in the blood sample, confirmed Dr. Niraj Debbarma on Monday.

However, it is worthy to mention here that earlier a medical expert team had arrived here at the state to undertake the stock of the situation of malaria epidemic at different villages at Gandacherra. According to the report the expert teams are conducting certain tests and examinations to the blood samples of the people affected with malaria this year.

According to the experts since many tribal population do not complete the full course of drugs, malaria become drug resistant and once a mosquito bites them, it can infect others. Many malaria cases are reported even in winter because of this phenomenon. As temperature soars in several water borne diseases have hit the remote areas of the state creating panic among the tribal hamlets and others.

As May-June is peak season for jhum cultivation the tribals’ are toiling on fields that are swarmed with mosquitoes, the tribals do not wear clothes that fully cover their bodies, hence they are susceptible to mosquito bites.
