AGARTALA, June 22 (TIWN): Launching a scathing attack on the UPA-II Government and BJP-led NDA Government’s approach towards the agriculture sector, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on Sunday said, “A total of 3 lakhs farmers had committed suicide under the regime of the Congress led UPA-II Government at the centre whereas the same remained unabated in the 13 months regime of the BJP led NDA government at the centre.” Sarkar was addressing his party campaign at Pratapgarh constituency on Saturday in wake of the by-elections scheduled to be held on July 27.Interestingly on Sunday the so called ‘clean imaged’ and also a corruption tainted Manik Sarkar managed to lash the 55 years in power at the centre Congress led UPA government. Sarkar said, “Corruption plagued the congress at the centre and even the Prime Minister’s office was tainted with corruption.” Adding to that Sarkar also said that the Congress ministers were also send to jail and Prime Minister himself is now being called by the court.“And taking the advantage of the corruption tainted congress the BJP managed to come to power with its ‘Aache din’ slogan across the nation,” Sarkar said.Coming down heavily on the Congress, he said the BJP had come to power riding the downfall of century-old party because of corruption during the past five years. “Now, the BJP has been able to project itself as a viable alternative of the Congress because of corruption in the UPA-II regime”, he said.

Sarkar also flaying the earlier ruled UPA-II government on Sunday said, “The congress has come to power for 55 consecutive times at the centre simply showing greed to the unemployed youths of the nation in the name of providing employment.” Adding to that Sarkar said, “A large number of unemployed youths of the nation deprived from jobs.”

“Tripura the land-locked state was deprived at large under the regime of the congress at the centre,” adding Sarkar addressing the party campaign in wake of the by-elections said, “The congress in Tripura has failed to play active role towards the common masses of the state as an opposition party.”

Sarkar said, “Inspite of playing active the congress has simply triggered a terror in the state during their regime and during the coalition government.”

Lashing out at the BJP Government at the Centre, Sarkar on Sunday said the Modi-led Government has been inviting disastrous days for the people instead of the party’s much-promised ‘acche din’. During the past thirteen months the people have experienced skyrocketing price rise with the Union Government failing to arrest the menace, he said.

“It has promised to bring acche din ending the misrule of the Congress-led UPA Government but people have been facing brunt of the price rise in essential things”, he alleged.
