TELIAMURA, June 22 (TIWN): Road accidents-leading to death and injuries have become regular stuffs. Recently in a two separate road accidents total of 19 people were left seriously injured at Atharamura under Mungiakami Police station and in a road near Boromura Echo Park under Teliamura Police station on Saturday.

After wrapping up the ‘weekly bazaar’ of Mungiakami the businessmen were returning to their homes in a truck bearing number TR01Q-1844 and met an accident at Atharamura. It is to be mentioned that when a vehicle from the opposite direction started rash driving, the driver of the truck bearing number TR01Q-1844 Prasanta Sarkar lost control over the brakes and hit with a stack of mud and left 14 people in the truck seriously injured. However the localites managed to rush the injured at Teliamura hospital and later Driver Prasanta Sarkar and few other people reported with serious injuries, was referred to AGMC hospital.

In another accident near Boromura Echo Park under Teliamura Police station 5 person including two infants were left critically injured when the vehicle hit with an oil tanker and skidded into a steam. However, the injured are undergoing treatment at AGMC hospital.

The road was constructed especially for a free movement of the heavy vehicles. But recently the road had taken a bad shape turning terrible for the heavy as well as small vehicles to travel.

The road is laying in deplorable condition and has not been repaired for a long time.

Lack of parking place, poor awareness among locals and defunct signal posts have led to a spurt in accident related cases in different parts of Tripura including the Agartala city. The interiors of the state have no proper parking for vehicles. The pedestrians are also at risk of getting mowed down by speeding vehicles. The traffic and the police personnel are not taking any step to keep a tab on the speed limits of vehicles other than staging a barricade at some parts to nab the two-wheeler drivers who are not using helmets.

In the state recently, exposure to potential road traffic injury has increased largely because of rash driving, coupled with poor road conditions, rapid population growth, lack of safety features in cars, crowded roads, poor road maintenance, and lack of police enforcement.

Day after day the road accidents are raising in an alarming rate and because of the lack of maintenance of the road for a long period of time is leading the travelers to face several hurdles.
