Awareness campaign on Tax observed at Dharmanagar

AGARTALA, June 8 (TIWN): Aiming to increase the collection of tax Finance Minister Bhanulal Saha announced installation of two more check post in the state while addressing in an awareness campaign on Tax at Dharmanagar Town Hall.

During the programme, stressing to increase the collection of Tax, Finance Minister Bhanulal Saha said nearby the Churaibari Check post two more check post will be installed. He said that as per Tripura Value Added Act 2004, there are around 20, 000 registered businessman.

Further, he urged the concern officials to take proper initiatives to increase the number of registered businessman which will assist the state to increase the collection of Tax. Also to aware the public about the importance of Tax, he asked the concern officials to conduct few workshop through which people would understand the importance of paying Tax on time and its role in the development of the state.

Minister Bhanulal Saha also urged the business man to pay the Tax on time as the money provided by them or the taxpayer has been used for the development of the state. These include the enforcement of law and public order, protection of property, economic infrastructure (roads, legal tender, enforcement of contracts, etc.), public works, social engineering, subsidies, and the operation of government itself.

He even asked the concern employees to make an effective council to aware the people about the importance of paying Tax on time and its role in the development of the state.  

During the programme, MLA Biswabandhu Sen put up the significance and importance of Tax. Municipal Council Chairperson Ratna Mahishya Das along with other official were present at the programme.

The tax is imposed on any kind of income of an individual as an employee or a self employed, or a corporation engaged in commercial activity. The amount of taxation depends on the type of income and the person or the organization earning the income. The tax collection in India has to follow several norms specified under the Income tax act of India.

The tax is calculated under different heads of income such as salary head of income, house property head of income, profit in business or profession head of income, capital gains head of income, and other sources head of income.
