DHAKA / AGARTALA, June 6 (TIWN): In a landmark move, two neighboring countries India and Bangladesh have exchanged the documents of the ratification of Land Boundary Agreement to implement the transfer of enclaves which will kick start the process of implementing the 41-year old deal, ending stateless lives of more than 50,000 people in 161 enclaves on both sides of the border.Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bangladesh’s prime minister Sheikh Hasina oversaw a signing session of the historic Land boundary agreement on Saturday afternoon.
Both the prime ministers have been in an exclusive meeting at 4:30pm to discuss various bilateral issues at the Prime Minister’s Office in the city.
 Prime minister of India is currently on a 2-day trip to Bangladesh.The historic LBA document has signed today at Dhaka. Indian Foreign Secretary S. Jaishankar and Bangladesh Foreign Secretary Md Shahidul Haque have signed the protocol on Saturday to exchange the ratification before Prime ministers Narendra Modi and Sheikh Hasina.They also exchanged the modalities of implementing the deal after the signing.West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also witnessed the signing of LBA agreement. They flagged off three buses to Kolkata, Agartala and Shillong at around 3:45pm.
Hasina, Modi and Mamata got board on three buses and exchanged pleasantries with passengers.
Mamata handed over a Kolkata-Dhaka symbolic bus ticket to Sheikh Hasina while Modi handed over Agartala-Dhaka bus ticket to the Bangladesh prime minister before launching the Bangladesh-India bus service.
Besides, Sheikh Hasina handed over a Dhaka-Shillong symbolic bus ticket to Narendra Modi.

Indian prime minister Narendra Modi, Bangladesh prime minister Sheikh Hasina and West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee jointly inaugurated Kolkata-Dhaka-Agartala and Dhaka-Shillong-Guwahati bus services at the Bangladesh Prime Minister’s Office in Dhaka, on Saturday afternoon.

Indian prime minister Narendra Modi held a meeting with West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee at Hotel Sonargaon in Dhaka on Saturday ahead of his meeting with Bangladesh prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
The meeting started around 3:15 pm at the hotel and ended at 3:34 pm, and then they set out for the Prime Minister’s Office to meet prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
Narendra  Modi arrived here on a two-day visit to the neighbouring country.
Mamata Banerjee arrived at Dhaka earlier on Friday night mainly to witness the exchange of documents on Land Boundary Agreement ratification between Bangladesh and India. Speculations were there that Teesta Water sharing agreement was on the agenda of the meeting.
Bangladesh’s prime minister Sheikh Hasina and her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi oversaw a signing session of the historic Land boundary agreement on Saturday afternoon.
