KAILASAHAR, June 6 (TIWN): Construction of double lane road from Kumarghat to Kailasahar Old Duck-bunglow road is left paralyzed for last 6 months.
Reportedly, 6 years back the government had sanctioned an amount of 88 crore rupees to Border Road Organization for the construction of the double-lane road from Kumarghat to Kailasahar Old Duck-bunglow road, said sources. Interestingly, 6 years have been passed but there is no view of construction of double-lane road.
It has come under notice that just in the name of construction, few brick chips are being laid on the road and in some areas mud is being dug for widening the structure of the road. The localities alleged for past 6 months the construction is left in half-done condition, resulting piling up several number of problems for the pedestrian and as well as for the vehicle runners.
The localities further alleged that for the construction of double-lane road, in the beginning some geographic obstacles on the road were haphazardly removed from the roadside, no proper planning is done for the carpeting of the roads, some stone chips are being left openly on the roadside which comes on the middle of the road during the rain and even many accidents also took place for the mismanagement of the road in last few days.
Proper maintenance of road infrastructure is essential for easy movement of traffic. Moreover timely and proper maintenance of roads reduce construction cost also said a pedestrian on the same road.
In addition, the localities also said that even 100 meter of construction of road is not yet competed and during the rain it becomes very hectic to travel in the roads.
Talking to Kailasahar SDM Ajit Sukla Das, he said that he will talk with the concerned authority for the re-starting the construction work on the roads as early as possible.
Question arises if government has sanctioned such a big amount of money for the construction of double-lane road 6 years back and if no construction is done, where has the money gone.
