KHOWAI, June4 (TIWN): In the age of golden era where every now and then the ministers claims about the development of the ADC area, the residents of Belchora ADC village of Poddobill block under Khowai district alleged that they are deprived of all the basic facilities of life. There are 25 villages under this ADC area with a population of around 3,313. 3064 persons among them are tribals and rest falls under the category of others.
Among these 25 villages, Chathnithal, Haricharan Para, Nabadeep para, Dhallajai this four villages are facing the most critical condition for their survival. Most of the resident under this area falls under the umbrella of BPL category.
In this village most of the people are landless. They have nothing of their own. They belong to the class of have-nots. They work hard and somehow arrange their two-square meal for their family members but they are not able to earn enough to live on, said a villager.
The village covers a total area of 12,255 hector out of which more than 1000 hector is allocated for the border fencing area.
Even after so much of tall claims made by the authorities, the poor villagers are getting contaminated water as the storage tank from where water is supplied to the village is in a dilapidated condition which is also not fit for human consumption.
Talking to TIWN, a villager also said that, for drinking, they fetch water from the remote streams and brooks.
Earthen lamps cannot drive away the darkness of these villagers, as there is no proper facility of providing electricity to the households of the people.
In this village around 80 families are landless. They have nothing of their own. They belong to the class of have-nots. Apart from them most of the families don’t have proper accommodation to live and somehow they are managing their shelter under the simple roof of hay and tin, alleged a villager.
Apart from accommodation, the villagers are also deprived of the facility of Health sub-centre and they also don’t have the facility of Veterinary hospital in the ADC village.
Talking to TIWN reporter, ADC village chairman Deepali Debbarma and MLA Padda Kumar Debbarma agreed that there is no touch of development in this village comparing to other but it is hopeful that in the coming financial year more budget will be allocated for the development of the rural areas.
They further stated that the reason behind such deplorable condition of this village is also because of the poor transportation system of the village, which is mandatory for renovation in the coming days which will further lay the path for the development.
