Crime rate declines in South Tripura District : SP South

BELONIA, June 3 (TIWN): Police Dept. of South Tripura claims that police are successful in reducing the number of crimes in South Dist. According to the statement of police, the crime rates declined as police have taken several measures for improving general law and order situation in the state.

Despite of several initiatives, State Government on its ambitious plan somehow failed to suppress the crime rate in Tripura. Construction of several Police Stations all over Tripura could not help the state government to reduce the rate of crime occurring in the state. Today, Agartala along with the suburbs are under acute threat of rising crime.

On the one hand where the state is facing threat of crime, on the other hand, Belonia, South District of Tripura witnessed a substantial reduction in overall crime.

According to the report, altogether 228 cases have been registered against crime in the current year at the South District of Tripura which is comparatively less than the previous year. As in the previous year that is in 2014, altogether 702 cases were registered against crime, stated S.P South Bhanupada Chakraborty.

Detailing to the report, he further said that in the year 2014 most of the cases registered were of fight and conflicts, secondly, cases registered were of crime against women including molestation, rape, kidnapping and dowry-related harassment. Same in the year 2015, the kidnapping cases which were registered were with false allegation.

Further enhancing about the Monu Bazar Police Station of South District under Sabroom Sub-Division he stated that altogether 16 accident cases were registered in the year 2014 and in the year 2015 only one case of accident was registered. Whereas, altogether 21 cases were registered at Bhaigora Police Station Santirbazar Sub-Division in the year 2014 and in the year 2015 only one case has been registered.

The District Women Police Station of Belonia which was inaugurated on April 13, 2015, performing its work successfully. This year altogether 6 cases were registered and all the culprits of the registered cases were arrested, as per the sources report.

The measures include strengthening of police and other security forces by improving their efficiency, increasing the number of police stations, regular police-public interaction under policing programme and developing police intelligence networks has been playing an important role in the decrease of crime in the South District.

 S.P South Bhanupada Chakraborty said that the Police have been making sincere efforts to spread awareness among the people and firm about the rules and regulation. Further the accident rates declined as the bike riders are concern about wearing helmets and discipline about the Traffic rules.
