AGARTALA, May 27 (TIWN): Tripura Commission for Women (TCW) on Wednesday organised one day seminar on ‘conditions of women in unorganised sector’ at Agartala Pragna Bhawan. TCW Chairperson Purnima Roy presided the meeting with Urban Development Minister Manik Dey along with other dignitaries remained present at the seminar.
Taking up the issue of the conditions of women in unorganised sector Minister Manik Dey said had pitched for ensuring better security for the women in an unorganised sector where at the present age a large number of women of the country are working.
Dey said that the untimely wages, disparity in wages, low salary no time limitations for duty hour has now become a matter of concern for the entire nation.
Adding to that he said the societal irony of women’ work and the very structure of the unorganized sector makes it non-conducive work environment for women employed there.
The double burden of managing household work as well as going to work to complement family income is what makes the issue of statistically measuring women’ work a complex task, he said.
Dey also said that there is a lack of better security for women in unorganised sectors across the nation. He said that separate accommodations for the women should be provided by the sectors where they work to ensure better security.
However during the seminar on Wednesday National Commission for Women member, and other dignitaries remained present to sit for a discussion.
