AGARTALA, May 27 (TIWN): Tracking a massive financial transparency at state forest department, state govt. had earlier ordered for a vigilance investigation against a section of forest officers which also includes the name of Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) and Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF) Prabir Bhattacharjee against whom allegation was also raised for illegally acquiring the land of BSNL. However according to the highly placed source of state administration the vigilance report against the forest officers were readied and would be tabled with the State Chief Secretary very soon.

Before the report is placed in the CS office the report against the forest officers which has proved massive financial loot by the accused officers would be tabled with the Vigilance Director, said source. It has also been learnt that after the report is tabled to CS office the state govt. would lodge FIR with the police against those 4 ‘corrupt’ officials.  

The vigilance investigation was ordered against at least 4 alleged ‘corrupt’ officers. It was learnt that the vigilance report was filed after conducting the investigation against CCF Prabir Bhattacharjee and his corrupt friends Debashish Chakroborty, Sonaton Talukdar (PCCF). Later finding the massive loot took place under the state forest department, the then State Chief Secretary G Kameshwar Rao ordered for a vigilance investigation against all the 8 forest officers.

The source recently informed that the vigilance investigation has brought some sensational information which would trap the officers very badly.

It is worthy to mention here that during the vigilance investigation the forest officers tried to manipulate the report, but at last they failed to do so. The source also said there is also an allegation against him for influencing the vigilance report of the state govt. on forest department. Besides, it was alleged that the forest officers are engaged selling the jobs under forest department.

After exposure of serious corruption charges and illegally acquiring the land of BSNL here in Tripura to get rid of punishment, Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF) in Tripura Prabir Bhattacharjee in connivance with a top official of BSNL Tripura SSA and Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) attempted to manipulate the entire land record where Bhattacharjee built a double storied house on the land muted in the name of Department of Telecom.

Bhattacharjee is known most canning among all other accused and also is the backbone of all nefarious activities in the department. Allegedly, he has tried at several times to prevent the vigilance enquiry instituted against them about six months ago.

Despite directions and advice from the District administration BSNL did not take any action to vacate the land illegally occupied by Bhattacharjee and three other retired employees of BSNL for past many years.

However, the sources confirmed that Chief Minister has directed the authority to take immediate action against them based on the vigilance findings and wrote to DoPT for suspending them from the service for corruption.

Interestingly, the money speaks strongly for Bhattacharjee, as neither BSNL nor AMC and District administration take any action yet against him. With the influence of CPI-M party Chief Minster Sarkar is also bit reluctant to take action against them. It only recounts how unfortunate the so called highly sensitive and literate citizens of the state because at last putting no barrier to the serial scams and corruption, another serious allegation has been raised recently against PCCF Talukdar, CCF Prabir Bhattacharjee, Debashish Chakroborty and others.

Besides stained with corruption tag, Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF) Prabir Bhattacharjee continues to live his luxury life in his multi-storied building on the land muted in the name of Department of Telecom, with the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (BSNL) authority under pressure now, said the source.
