Tripura cabinet hikes wage for pensioners, decides special booster, sugar price increased to Rs. 16/kg  : Finance Minister

AGARTALA, May 23 (TIWN): On yet another pay hike bonanza for the pensioners of the retired govt. employees, Tripura cabinet held meeting on Friday at the secretariat decided to hike the pension wages to 40 percent from the existing pay. Besides the cabinet had also decided to pay special booster wages to the retired employees who have crossed 80 years.Talking to the reporters here at the civil secretariat after the cabinet meeting State Minister for Finance Bhanulal Saha said that the state govt. on Friday has decided to hike the wages of pensioners to 40 percent. He said, “The state govt. employees who are retired before the year 2006 would be brought under the central pay scale bonanza with 40 percent hike in their pension.”The cabinet meeting held on Friday had also decided to give special booster to the retired employees who had already crossed their 80 years of age.Saha said, “30 percent pension wage is hiked for who are 86 years old, 41 percent for 91 years old pensioners, 50 percent for 96 years old and 100% for who have crossed 100 years of their age.” Their wages are being hiked from the existing and for who had retired from their service before the year 2006, Saha said.Earlier the wages were hiked to 10 percent for all the retired persons with no age bar.Besides, the cabinet on Friday had also decided that the ration card holders would get 1 kg of sugar per individual residing under Municipal Corporation from the ration shops, Saha told to newsmen after the cabinet meeting.

He also told that other ration card holders under Municipal Council area would get 600 gram of sugar per head. Sugars would be given to the individuals in the family from now who are ration card holders. Earlier three members in a family used to get 1kg of sugar but from now the three members in a family which is ration card holders would get 3 kg of sugar from the ration shops.

But interestingly the state govt. has increased the price of sugar to Rs. 16 per kg from Rs. 13.50 per kg. It would come into effect from July 1, 2015, said Saha.

Talking to the reporters Minister also said that a total of 31 would be recruited under State Tribal Welfare Department for two posts. Amongst 31 23 cook would be recruited for the school hostels under the department and 8 night guards would be recruited soon.

However the state transport department would also panel list 500 drivers under its department and later they would be recruited under various govt. departments, said Saha.
