Kalpana Das murder case : Police claim clues, yet to find evidences

AGARTALA, May 22 (TIWN): The four accused persons of Kalpana Das murder case comprising of expelled CPI-M leader and the alleged mastermind Jiten Das were recently send to 15 days judicial remand rejecting their bail petition.

All the four accused persons were produced before the court on May 20. Later rejecting their bail petition the first class judicial magistrate court sends all the accused to judicial remand till June 3.

Besides, talking to TIWN on Thursday a high placed source of police who is actively engaged to the investigation of Kalpana Das murder case said that Police has got many more clues against accused husband Jiten Das and others. The source also said that the investigative agency is now playing an active part to crack down the case as earliest as possible.

Though the police have not got any major output from another suspect of the case Shibu Das, but she is currently under vigilance and strict observation of the investigative agency. Police is keeping a strict eye on suspect Shibu Das and are observing with whom she talks everyday and her daily activities, said highly placed.

Besides, talking to TIWN on Thursday Govt. lawyer Taps Saha engaged to the case on Thursday said, “It is very much sure that husband Jiten Das along with his family members have killed Kalpana Das.”

He also said that as of now the investigation by the police is moving fast in progress with many evidences has already been collected. Some forensic report has also been collected by the police very recently and some more are yet to come, said Saha.

Interestingly police could not produce any fresh evidences against the accused persons on May 20 while they were produced before the court. Police onApril 17 arrested Tripura Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) leader Jitendra Das, his two brothers and his nephew in connection with the murder of his wife Kalpana Das.

Jitendra's wife, Kalpana Das, 62, a retired employee of Tripura police department, was found dead at their home at Ranir Bazar, near Agartala on April 16. Jitendra Das, 64, was the former Sabhadhipati (president) of Paschim Zilla Parishad until July 2014 and a senior leader of the CPI-M Sadar sub-divisional committee.
Kalpana's death stirred the political and non-political circles in the Left-ruled Tripura.
