AGARTALA, May 22 (TIWN): BJP central leader and state in-Âcharge Sunil Deodhar arrived in the state on Thursday to attend a meeting at Ramchandraghat as a part of BJP's nationwide 'Maha Sampark Abhiyan', which was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 1.
Talking to TIWN on Thursday over telephone BJP state president Sudhindra Dasgupta said that "Our aim is to establish a cadre-based mass party. We aim to increase our base and make our presence felt in every nook and corner of the country."
Sudhindra Dasgupta explained that the motive of the programme was also to tell every household in the country the last one year's performance of the Modi government. The policies and initiatives taken by the government would be explained in detail to the people, he added.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is the world’s number one party and it has an membership of around 10 crore, he added.
"We have already launched a strong movement against the CPI-M and discard the politics of Congress. We have no doubt in snatching power from the CPIM in the next 2018 Assembly elections in this state," he added.
"The party is getting an overwhelming response in its on-going membership drive. In the last one month, the total number of new members have crossed one crore mark while 1.59 crore have been registered through a missed called on the toll free numbers," he mentioned.
Meanwhile, party workers are also spreading awareness about its ideology and the goals set by its top brass to take it closer to people. Party leaders are visiting every district to get the public’s feedback on BJP’s success and what it holds for the country’s future.
