10323 teachers fate : Govt. promises regularization of Post Graduate and Graduate teachers

AGARTALA, May 14 (TIWN): Despite Supreme Court of India yet to decide the fate of ‘illegally’ recruited 10323 teachers’ jobs, the Left front govt. here in Tripura at last providing some relief to the anxiety of the 10323 teachers by signaling to regularization of Graduate and Post Graduate teachers amongst the 10323. Talking to the reporters at the civil secretariat, Education Minister Tapan Chakroborty said, “As per the appointment letters of those Post Graduate and Graduate teachers who had joined their service during the year 2010 would be regularized after completion of their 5 years term in service.” The five years terms of service of PGT and GT teachers amongst the 10, 323 would be completed this year and would be regularized with the state govt. to provide them all the facilities under regular scale.However, since after the case was lodged against the state govt. for illegally recruiting the 10, 323 teachers during 2010, several questions along with a major controversy had erupted among those deprived teachers as what would be their fate and when their fate be decided.Minister said that had recently saved the GTs and PGTs amongst the 10, 323 by regularizing their jobs providing every facilities under the regular scale.

The Left front government had appointed 1100 post graduate teachers, 4617 graduate teachers and 4606 under graduate teachers since 2010.

On May 7, 2014 Tripura High Court cancelled the appointment of 10,323 teachers in different categories recruited since 2010 and ruled that no proper policy was followed for their appointment. Later during the month of December 2014 the SC stayed the HC order to terminate the jobs of at least 10, 323 teachers and allowed them to continue their service until the final disposal of the case.

The undergraduate teachers were appointed during 2013 which gave rise to wide spread resentment among the candidates who did not get the job. They attacked many ruling CPI-M party offices and razed them to the grounds. Many party leaders were also heckled.
