AGARTALA, May 14 (TIWN): All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary cum Tripura in-charge V. Narayanasamy on May 14 visited state for three days to review the party’s debacle in the recently concluded Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections.

Narayanswami held a meeting with the party leaders and office bearers at Agartala Congress Bhawan after his arrival at the state to assess the party’s ground which led to the disaster in this ADC polls.

However according to the sources in Congress Bhawan Narayanswami would also hold a crucial meeting with party leaders at Pratapgarh and Surma Assembly constituencies on May 15.

But keeping no stone unturned the Pradesh Congress at last managed to bring their chief  Narayanswami yet again here at the state to review the current debacle status of the Congress party.

It is to be mentioned here that the Left Front recorded a resounding victory in the 7th general elections of the Tripura Tribal Area Autonomous District Council. In the results declared on May 6, Left Front candidates emerged victorious in all the 28 seats reaffirming its continuation in office for the third consecutive term.

Left Front secured a decisive 54.29 per cent of the total votes polled leaving behind all the other opposition parties. With another major setback to the opposition congress the party this year could hardly score 5.49%.

Citing a reason for the debacle of the party Congress Chief Birajit Sinha said, “It is nothing but the weakness in the party itself is responsible for our setback to this ADC poll.” He also said “There are several other reasons but mainly because there was several uproar inside the party itself before I joined as a President to TPCC we have scored least percentage of votes.”
