AGARTALA, May 13 (TIWN): Indian Ambassador to Suden Deepak Vohra on his arrival to the state on Wednesday had met with Chief Minister Manik Sarkar at the civil secretariat. Vohra expressing his pleasure over the current status of the state Tripura said, “Tripura has maintained the communal harmony unlike Sudan.â€
Vohra later talking to the reporters of Tripura said, “I would like to take a message for my country that YES, India has set an important example of communal harmony to this world.”
Adding to that he also said, “Sudanese nomadic conflicts are non-state conflicts between rival nomadic tribes taking place in the territory of Sudan and, since 2011.”
Vohra said, “I am impressed with the state Tripura especially due to its communal harmony and the better status of the tribals sustaining at such state.”
However it is worthy to mention here that dozens were killed and many injured when violent clashes erupted between the Rezeigat and Ma'alia tribes in Sudan's East Darfur state this year.
In Sudan the tribes can be categorized in eight main groups: 39% claims an Arab descent, 30% are of African origin, 12% are Bejja, 15% are Nubian and 4% other. As for languages, 51% of the population speaks Arabic and 49% speak other languages and dialects.
