However according to the officials of the BSNL, in the first phase 4, 700 (4.7K) telephone lines of levels 230, working from main Telephone Exchange Agartala would be replaced with NGN telephone lines.

The subscribers from now would get additional facilities on theirt landline , experience improved voice quality and broadband services, after BSNL here begins use of NGN services.

Besides, in the second phase another 13, 000 telephone lines working from main telephone exchange and telephone exchanges at AD Nagar, Kaman Chowmuhni, College Tilla, GB RSU and Bishalgarh are planned to be migrated to NGN.

BSNL is the only telecom company in India to introduce Smart landline service.

However on Monday a new BSNL exchange has also been launched at Tripura, Dhaleshwar. In the financial year of 2016-17, all telephone exchanges in Tripura would be converted to NGN.

Presently, the largest telephone exchange of Tripura is run by Optically Compensated Bend (OCB) technology of France. OCB technology was commissioned in 1990.
