AGARTALA, May 11 (TIWN): With another major setback to the investigation of the National Rural Health Mission (NHM) scam unearthed at Unakoti District of Tripura the FIR named corrupt Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) and other officers has got an easy way to escape from the entire allegations against them. It has been learnt that except Bishalgarh RD Block multi-crore scam the state govt. and its authorities yet today have failed to bring development to the other unearthed scams and corruption case that took place across the state. . Barely Chief Minister Manik Sarkar said, “There is no room for corruption in Tripura” the statement turns bleak with Sarkar’s corrupted officers gets unearthed. As was expected the National Health Mission scam unearthed at Unakoti District recently this year has got no development in its investigation. Besides, since after the Unakoti NHM scam was unearthed and FIR was lodged against at least 17 CMOs and other officials, one could find no sustained development in to it leading the corrupt officers roams free. According to the FIR, the health officials had embezzled an amount of Rs. 4.47 crore under National Rural Health Mission. However, no one was arrested in this connection, till the filing of the report. Instead the case now remained pending with the Police Head Quarter.Recently the High Court has directed the Director General of Police (DGP) K Nagaraj to take a disciplinary action against the Unakoti SP Nabadwip Jamatia and Kailsahar PS OC for not considering the first complaint against the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) scam worth over Rs. 30 crore made by Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Birajit Sinha.

However, the HC Justice Subhashish Talapatra on Friday hearing the case declared that the conduct of the police officers is reprehensible and they are hereby ‘censured’. ‘Censure’ be recorded in their service records, Court directed DGP K Nagaraj.

Most interestingly at least it could be learnt that though the investigating procedure of the police and its role was questioned, but at last the NHM scam has of course unearthed the another ‘illegal’ role of police officers here in the state.

As the police officials became adamant to their deeds, the HC called their role as ‘illegal’ and asked the DGP to take action against them.

Tripura Police have launched an investigation into an alleged funds scam to the tune of Rs 4.47 crore in the National Health Mission (NHM) following an FIR by NHM mission director on the month of April first. It has been learnt that a team of senior level officers are engaged to its investigation, but yet today no arrest has been made.

According to the source the accused medical officers are engaged in different hospitals of the district. The fund was given for procuring medicines, implementing various schemes under NHM in the district and construction works in rural hospitals. But it has been found that at least 17 officials under the NHM (Unakoti District) could not submit the utilization certificate with proper receipt and payment statements.

Even after the passage of maximum days that the scam was brought under the limelight and the FIR was lodged against 17 NHM officials, police was found to have brought no further development to its investigation. The police have not yet arrested the tainted officials even after the FIR was lodged against them leading them the gateway to their escape from the case.
