AGARTALA, April 25 (TIWN): The entire process of collection of aadhar numbers from the Tripura voters as per the nationwide programme for inclusion of Aadhaar number and other contact details with the voter identity card to create an error free voter lists is targeted to end by June 30 this year, said Chief Electoral Commissioner (CEO) S. K. Rakesh on Friday at the civil secretariat.
Talking to the reporters here at the civil secretariat CEO S.K. Rakesh said, “Around 4.50 lakh aadhar numbers has been collected as of now.” National Electoral Roll Purification and Authentication Programme to ensure an error free voter list, which is a nationwide programme launched by the ECI has started on April 1 here at the state along with the entire nation.
However, earlier Rakesh said that the entire process of the programme would be completed in August this year.
To remove the details of the fraudulent voters from their database, a new campaign for linking aadhaar card to voter id card is being carried out. It is also being referred to EPIC-Aadhaar Seeding.
Many cases of Voter ID card fraud have been reported in the country. It is difficult to find out such bogus voters and eliminate the details from the voter’s database. This whole process is being carried out under the NERPAP – National Electoral Roll Purification and Authentication Programme.
