AGARTALA, April 17 (TIWN): Rural Development Minister Naresh Jamatia on Thursday making the floor clear for the REGA workers announced that the due payment of the REGA wages would be cleared within five days. However till MGNREGA workers receive the payment, no one is believing RD Minister's assurances yet. Talking to the media persons on Thursday during the press conference at the Civil Secretariat Minister Jamatia said that the state govt. has received Rs. 145 crore from the centre for the payment of the REGA wages, but later finding it insufficient to meet the wages of the state REGA workers, the state govt. had added another Rs. 100 crore to clear the payment of the REGA wages to the workers.
Jamatia also said, “The due payment of the NREGA wages would be cleared within four to five days.”
“From now onwards the REGA workers do not need to possess Aadhaar card linked to job card in order to receive the payment of REGA wages from the bank account,” Jamatia told to media persons.
