NHIDCL visits state to review Agartala-Sabroom National Highway double lane project work

AGARTALA, April 10 (TIWN): National Highway Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) officials have visited the state recently to review the proposed project work of Agartala-Sabroom and Agartala-Udaipur national highway double lane work.Talking to TIWN PWD Engineer in Chief Sunil Bhowmik said, “The department here is ready with the project work, but as soon as the NHIDCL floors the money, the work will begin.”Two companies named as Oriental Structural Engineering and KRC Company has been assigned to take over the work for double lane, said Bhowmik. Adding to it he said the NHIDCL, the fully owned company of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India has recently formed a corporation for the North eastern region to take up the double lane project work.Asked about the kick off of the project work, Bhowmik said, “the proposed money will be send here very soon without any further delay, and once the department receives the money the work will kick off for Agartala-Sabroom on its first phase.”

Bhowmik told to TIWN that some of the offices of the state govt. and houses of the public would be evicted during the project work. “The Ministry has sanctioned Rs.17 crore for water supply pipeline under the DWS department, while Rs. 69 crore has been sanctioned for shifting of electric posts and for land acquisition Rs. 400 crore has been sanctioned,” Bhowmik said.

He hoped that the recently formed corporation by the NHIDCL would start the conversion work very soon.

Besides, in regard of the proposed bridge over the Feni River, Bhowmik said that it has been not finalized yet. After receiving the green signal from Bangladesh govt. the high level expert will visit other side of the Feni River. Bhowmik said, the state govt. has earlier sent the names of the experts team to Bangladesh govt. for approval.
