Pulin Debbarma memorial auditorium opened at Agartala Music College

AGARTALA, March 25 (TIWN): Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on Tuesday inaugurated the Pulin Debbarma memorial auditorium at Agartala Arts and Music College campus at Lichubagan. Delivering his speech CM Manik Sarkar urged the youths of the present generation to come forward and get known with arts, music and culture. Sarkar said that a section of people here in the state are trying to force the present generation youth towards he modernized arts and culture.

Sarkar also said that the utmost worshipper of music Pulin Debbarma had his major contribution to the existing arts and music college, and that had brought the college with its utmost facilities now at the present generation.

However, besides the annual art exhibition 2015 of Govt. College of art and craft and 11th Pulin Debbarma Memorial All Tripura Classical Music Conference 2015 of SDM Govt. Music College was also inaugurated today at the Lichubagan newly build Pulin Debbarma Memorial Auditorium today. Secretary of Higher education Samarjit Bhowmik along with Director of higher education Dr. Bipradas Palit, Syamal Deb (MIC, Tripura) and AMC Mayor Dr. Prafullajit Sinha remained present today during the inauguration programme.

It is worthy to be mentioned here that The Present name of Govt Music College is Sachin Debbarman Govt. Music College.This college was founded Pulin Debbarma in the year 1964. Pulin Debbarma was the utmost worshipper of music. He was born in the year 1914 , 10th  March, at Agartala in Krishnanagar. From childhood, Pulin Thakur was very much interested  in music. Pulin Debbarma was the first man who established “Birbikram Music School” in his own house for tor the purpose of Spreading music throughout the common People .

In the month of March, 2009 this “Govt Music College” was shifted in Lichubagan with the new name of “Sachin Debbarman Memorial Govt Music College”. In the year 2000, this college was permanently affiliated by The Tripura University in 2002-2003, three (3) Year B.MUSIC Honours Degree course was started in “Govt. Music College”. At present, there are various departments in this college, Such as – Rabindra Sangeet. Vocal Classical  Music, Dance ( Kathak, Manipuri, Bharatnatyam), Tabla, Sitar, Sarod, English, Bengali etc. Besides this, in the month of July 28, 2009, the Tripura University ( Central University ) has started M.MUSIC course. In the year 2010, Three Years Diploma Music Course has also  started in this College.
