BJP NE meeting: Tripura BJP demands acceleration on border fencing work

AGARTALA / NEW DELHI, March 21 (TIWN): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Tripura State committee has demanded for the fast completion of the border fencing work along the Indo-Bangla border at Tripura. Besides, the BJP also demanded for central forces for the upcoming TTAADC election here in the state. Talking to TIWN BJP State President Sudhindra Das Gupta said that several burning issues including corruption, scams, Chit fund issue, militancy hike and others were taken up during a recently concluded BJP North East meeting.BJP decided to prepare a roadmap for ensuring development of northeast region and strengthening its base in various states there. The decision was taken at a meeting of party office-bearers with party chief Amit Shah at New Delhi. The problems of the region and the issues hampering development were discussed at length by the party's top brass.BJP general secretary (organisation) Ram Lal, party general secretary Ram Madhav and vice president Vinay Sahasrabuddhe were present, besides Union Ministers Kiren Rijiju, Sarbananda Sonowal and Jitendra Singh, who were among other party leaders from northeastern states.

Talking to TIWN today in regard of the meeting attended by the BJP state committee here, BJP State President Sudhindra Das Gupta said that the BJP has demanded for the speedy development and progress of the region, besides expanding party activities and strengthening BJP's base and presence there. “We have also raised the issue of the brutal attack on the BJP workers during the membership drive that occurred recently and then we demanded for central forces apart from the TSR Jawans for the TTAADC poll,” Das Gupta said. The BJP also raised the issues like corruptions, scams, chit fund issue, militancy hike across the state, speedy work of the bordering fencing and others.

However the meeting was held at New Delhi on Thursday, where several issues of the North eastern region were discussed. Sikkim had also participated in the meeting started from 3 pm and continued till 8:30 pm. The DoNER minister was also present during the meeting.
