AGARTALA, March 16 (TIWN): All the ration shops of Tripura would remain closed on March 17th.All India Fair Price Dealers Federation will organize March to parliament on that day. On behalf of the state 200 representatives are attending the march. According to the last report, with an effort to strengthen the Public Distribution System (PDS) in the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) areas and to implement the goodwill of state government, different decisions were taken by the ration dealers association.
It is to be mention that the ration shop dealers play vital role to strengthen the Public Distribution System. Though there is a demand existing for dealer commission and transportation commission, but the ration shop dealers are carrying out their responsibilities for the interest of PDS and consumers.
Though, the state government has increased the commission of ration shop dealers. The fair price shop dealers staged demonstration across state capitals and will hold one at New Delhi’s Jantar Mantar and a rally at Ramlila Maidan on 17 March before the ongoing Budget session ends. Among various demands, the dealers have been asking for an increase in commission and also an assurance to serve at least 1000 card holders per dealer.
