AGARTALA, March 15 (TIWN): The 8th annual state conference of Aurobindo Society held today at Agartala Press Club. With a theme – “living within – a key to progress†the programme was inaugurated by the Dr. Bibhas Kanti Kilikdar, Chairman of Tripura State Committee of Sri Aurobindo Society by lighting deep with background chanting of Vedic Stora. The Welcome Address was given by Er. Paramananda Sarkar Banerjee, Secretary, Tripura State Committee of Sri Aurobindo Society during the second phase of the progranme.
A public function was held in the Press Club today. The function was inaugurated by Justice A. B. Pal, retired Judge Guwahati High Court and Chairman of Tripura Police Accountability Commission. A.B. Pal remained present today during the function as a Chief Guest. Later during the programme a Souvenir “Abhipsha” was released. Addressing the function Er. Paramananda Sarkar said that said that Sri Aurobindo's spiritualism grew during his stay in Alipore jail. He said during the Alipore Bomb Case trial, the Magistrate on 7th July 1908 asked why Aurobindo should not be treated as an accused. In reply Defence Lawyer Deshbandhu C R Das said, "My Lord! If pronouncement of independence is a crime then Sri Aurobindo Ghosh is an accused." Such was his influence. Sarkar also said that even Aurobindo's idea of God was different from others. To Aurobindo God is omnipresent and omnipotent. His influence in the arena of nationalism was so much that Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy once said ,"You will never know what sacrifice he has,made in his life". The country too had great reverence on him. Even when he died, the following day the headlines of all the leading news papers of the country was," Soul of India departs."
However, the programme today began with hoisting of the Mother’s flag in Society’s Kadamtala premises, Agartala. Besides, collective prayer and meditation with the Mother’s music was held.
