UDAIPUR / KILLA, March 13 (TIWN): In a quite mysterious way a TSR Jawan was killed in Atharobhola under Killa Police Station in Udaipur Sub Division. The incident took place at around 1.15pm to 1.30pm on Thursday near Gungrai , around 12km out skirts of Udaipur . Till Thursday midnight police seemed to be clueless about the identification of the culprits. A police official in Killa Police Station told this correspondent over phone ," Till now the miscreants have not been identified and no arrest has been made. However, a case will be registered by tonight and and the investigation is going on." It is learnt that the TSR Jawan Manik Roy(42), S/O- Khirod Mohan Roy of Amtali in Agartala was shot from a 9mm revolver on the main road leading to Gungrai to Atharobhola this noon. He was looking in TSR 10BN. He was shot twice on the back of his head and after some time local people saw the dead body lying on the road and informed the Killa police station and immediately Addl SP Gomati Tapan DebBarma, SDPO Udaipur Ratan Kumar Das, officials of Killa police station and a large number of TSR alongwith high officials of TSR rushed to spot.

They found the dead body of Manik Roy lying on the road with a bike lying on other aide of the road. They recovered the body and sent it to Gomati District Hospital. Police opened the tool box of the bike TR01-09356 and from the documents they found that TSR jawan Manik Roy was a resident of Amatali area under Amatali Police Station, Agartala. The black coloured bike was lying by the side of Manik's body. Again two blank shells of 9mm revolver were found from the spot and this indicates that perhaps the miscreants might have shot from the mm pistol and left the place soon after committing the incident.

Police suspect that the killers might have come to  Udaipur alongwith Manik riding another bike setting a trap. When they reached Gungrai one of them fired Mani from back and immediately Manik succumbed to the injuries and so also the culprits left the place without being noticed by any one. Till at 11pm on Thursday night police were clueless about the modus operandi of the crime.

This incident has once again added to the ongoing crime records in Tripura especially in Gomati District. Only on Tuesday noon Rs 13 lakh was robbed of from Security Intelligence Service -Prosegur van in broad day might from near Kiran Petroleum. On Tuesday IG(Law & Order) Anuragh Dhyankar and DIG Southern Range Uttam Kumar Majumder rushed to Udaipur and held a long meeting with Addl SP Gomati, SDPO Udaipur, OC R K Pur and other police officials regarding the law and order situation in Gomati District. The meeting continued till 11pm, said a TIWN source. But today's incident clearly brought out the deteriorating condition of the law and order situation in Gomati ,especially at Udaipur just when the TTAADC election is knocking at the door. Political analysts assume that as the poll date of TTAADC approaches nearer the unidentified gunmen will become a headache for the administration.
