AGARTALA,March 12 (TIWN): Scam of 33 Panchayats was registered under 58 blocks in the recent consecutive years. Though the State Government claims their tenure as corruption free, the recent statistics point that Govt's position is incorrect. In the year 2012- the number of scams registered is 15, in 2013, it is 11 and in the year 2014, it is 7.Among the audit of the blocks, only 5 blocks had completed their process. But amongst the audit of these blocks, some irregularities observed and based on the special audit the scams of three blocks namely Bishalgarh, Pecharthal, Rupaichari had been conducted. The internal audit report of Bishalgarh RD block exposed misappropriation of government funds of Rs 2, 22, 21,964 without executing works against work orders issued under MGNREGA, PDS, TFC etc, purchase of bricks from suppliers without receiving bricks resulting in non­execution of works, generating man­days of Rs 4, 06, 89, 117 utilized unauthorized funds towards material cost made to other people depriving job card holders etc.

Internal audit report revealed that a total of Rs. 14 crore and 39 lakh at Rupaichari Block and Rs. 76 crore and 79 lakh were misappropriated at Pecharthal RD Block since April 1, 2012 till March 31 in 2014.

All the recent scams which was unearthed in the recent time all the scamsters are close aids of So. Called Mr. Clean Chief Minister Manik Sarkar who is also known as the poorest and honest Chief Minister’s in all over India.

In the recent Rs. 50 Crore MGNREGA multicrore scam of Bishalgarh RD Block the scamsters Bimal Chakraborty is also a close aid of the Chief minister.

Though, Bimal is close aide of CM he is now in Jail Custody and the police are taking care of Bimal like a VIP due to his high political influence, said a source. No doubt MGNREGA has been playing a pivotal role in the rural economy of the state ever since its enactment. At the same time there is no denying of the fact that cores of MGNREGA fund was looted by a section of ruling party leaders and a section of corrupt officials, of course those are in CPI (M)'s good book. Over the last few months through RTI several documents of Internal Audit Reports (IAR) different blocks, Nagar Panchayats and Municipal Councils and other departments of state got were unearthed.
