AGARTALA, March 12 (TIWN): On yet another post-poll violence here in Tripura, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) fell victim to the brutal attack of the CPI (M) cadres today. After Belonia another attack on the BJP membership drive campaign was reported from Sabroom today. The attack left at least 10 BJP workers injured while, 4 seriously injured, amongst whom one was referred to Agartala GB Pant Hospital in critical condition. However the incident has once again led the BJP membership drive to face another setback.

The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon at around 1:30 pm infront of Sabroom college, after a section of CPI (M) cadres allegedly made an attack on the BJP workers who were on a move of membership drive. At least 10 BJP workers were injured on the attack amongst whom 4 was seriously injured and one was referred to Agartala GB pant hospital. The four seriously injured are – Ranjit Rai Chowdhury, Pankaj Dutta, Biswajit Dutta and the other Mathons Mog. Mog was referred to Agartala GBP hospital. However following the incident today the BJP Yuva Morcha leaders rushed to the spot.

Most interestingly the incident took place when the BJP workers were moving for a membership drive at Sabroom college and at the meantime a section of CPI (M) cadres marching forward staging a rally made an attack on the BJP workers.

However later talking to TIWN in this regard BJP State President Sudhindra Das Gupta said that immediately after the incident was reported he had a talk with the IG (Law&Order) and demanded for an immediate arrest of the culprits involved with the incident today. Following which IG (Law&Order) assured Das Gupta for an immediate legal steps against the accused persons, said Das Gupta. Besides, Das Gupta said that the as a large number of CPI (M) workers are joining BJP recently ahead of the ADC poll drawing near, the CPI (M) has become much worried now and are on a move to create terror among the common mass of the state. “But BJP hopes to overcome any hurdles and move forward to sweep the TTAADC election drawing near”, das Gupta told to TIWN.

However it may be recalled here that on Tuesday a section of CPI (M) cadres allegedly made an attack on the BJP workers during their membership drive at Belonia, infront of the college campus, and later lodged an FIR with the Police Station against the BJP workers.

It is to be mentioned here that such incidents ahead of the upcoming ADC election has of course triggered a huge resentment among the common mass of the state with the rulling CPI (M) marching forward to create a terror like activities across the state to bring the voters under their banner. However later talking to TIWN Das Gupta said that if their demands to arrest the culprits soon are not fulfilled than the BJP will move for a massive movement across the state.
