Agartala, March 6 (TIWN): Revenue of a total of Rs. 1, 41, 54, 051 was collected from the markets across Tripura during last three financial years, replying on a calling attention notice raised by MLAs Sudhan Das and Mahindra Chandra Das, Minister Manik Dey informed it in Tripura Assembly.
Of the total, Rs. 44, 67, 246 was collected as revenue in the fiscal 2012-13 while revenue of a total of Rs. 46, 06, 578 and Rs. 50, 80, 227 were collected in the fiscal 2013-14 and 2014-15 respectively, said Dey.
As many as 646 different markets exist across 641 Gram Panchayats and Village Committees in Tripura. Among them, 602 are occupied as open markets. Altogether 8623 market rooms are available in 655 market stalls, added Dey.
In these markets, over 22000 businessmen have already got a chance to generate income while constructions for more markets are in progress in the different parts of the state, Dey replied.
According to Dey, among the total 646 markets, altogether 523 markets are connected with electric line while extension of more electric lines covering rest market is in progress.
