 Tripura on high Swine Flu alert: H1N1 detection ward in Agartala  Airport lacks medical staff

AGARTALA, March 4 (TIWN): At the time when Swine Flu (H1N1 influenza) claiming several lives in some states of the country, as a precautionary measure, the state government has reportedly set up H1N1 detection ward in few entry points including Agartala Airport and Churaibari gate with no medical staff.

The local sources informed; the H1N1 detection ward in Airport remains open in day hours but often the ward lacks of dearth of medical staffs since its inception.

Reportedly, no medical staff was spotted to check the passengers arrive in airport with seriousness instead of carrying out the formalities.

According to sources in Health Department, the state is on full alert to deal with the disease with huge stock necessary medicines.

“No case of swine flu detection has been reported in Tripura so far. But we are alert to deal with the Swine Flu H1N1 influenza in state with the availability of huge stocked medicines procured from Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra”, the source added.

Earlier in an official statement, Health Minister Badal Chowdhuty stated that there was no need to panic as the situation was under control with all safety precautions taken against spread of the disease.

Besides, the state government has sounded high alerts and directed district medical authorities to be ready to deal with any eventuality.

It is worthy to mention here; in a review meeting held earlier, the health department decided to deploy medical teams at Agartala airport and other entry points including the India-Bangladesh check-posts to monitor arriving people.
