AGARTALA, February 20 (TIWN): Throwing sharp attack against ICA Department and especially ICA Minister Bhanu Lal Saha, Leader of Opposition Sudip Roy Barman on Thrusday said," The book published by ICA spending govt money is nothing but an attempt to promote Manik Sarkar as the Honest and Poorest ( Sabse Achcha) CM in the country."Sudip Barman was addressing the Assembly on Thrusday during the on going Budget Session. Recently ICA published a book " Tripura CM at the National Forum" but in this book only the lectures of Manik Sarkar since 1998 were included. Interestingly ICA quite cunningly avoided the names of other Chief Ministers of the state lines of Nripen Chakraborty, Dasharath Deb, Sachindra Lal Singh and others. Not only the Congress and other opposition Chief Ministers but also the CMs like Nripen Chakraborty and Dashartah Deb too were excluded.
This , Sudip Barman said, an attempt by ICA to promote Manik Sarkar. He asks the utility of wasting govt money simply to promote a person's interest. Sudip Roy Barman even called Manik Sarkar as 'A Fascist and Dictator' while addressing in the Assembly.
Speaking on corruption issues leader of Opposition made a praising remark on the former Finance Minister Badal Choudhury. He said," Though Badal Choudhury could do nothing but I salute him that he at least showed the courage to take action against corrupt officials like Bimal Chakrabirty and others." Even after Audit Reports showed that many officials are corrupted, no step was taken. Rathwr, Badal Choudhury was removed from Finance Ministry.
It is to be mentioned here that on 19th May 2014 the then Finance Minister Badal Chowdhury after receiving the Internal Audit Report of BIshalgarh R D Block gave a special note(No.2632/FIN/2014) asking R D Department to register FIR against Bimal Chakraborty and 11others due to massive MGNREGA scam in Bishalgarh block. On the same date the Chief Secretary S K Panda too gave his comment saying ," This is a serious matter. The department may be advised to lodge FIR ... ....against concerned Govt staffs." But on 23rd May (in less than a week) Badal Chowdhury was removed from Finance Ministry and in his place CM cum Bimal Chakraborty's special choice Bhanu Lal Saha was given the charge of Finance Ministry.
Again on 20/10/2014 Additional Secretary to Govt of Tripura, GA P&T Section R P Datta vide his letter No.F.6(11)-(GA&T)/13 removed Lalnuna Rokhum, IAS, Director of Audit and the man, who played the key role to bring the scams in different departments and posted him to an unimportant position of OSD , SIPARD.
From these two incidents it is clear that even CPI(M) party's self claimed 'honest brand' Manik Sarkar too is not honest especially in handling different scams.However, now when the CBI is putting its hands together to make its mark in Tripura in the Rose Valley chit fund scam, Manik Sarkar too might have become a bit scarred and might have encouraged him to refuse Dam's invitation to attend a book publication ceremony. . A highly paced source in CBI told his correspondent from Kolkata," CBI is looking for all the possible ways to gather information on Rose Valley and its sudden soaring of its business in LF ruled Tripura. TMC leaders using their political influence have tried their best to prevent CBI in doing its investigation. The same situation may arise when the CBI makes the same attempt to interrogate CPI(M) leaders in Tripura, the string hold of the party. And as such CBI is doing nothing in a hurry. "
And political experts too now say that envisaging the outcome of CBI probe ruling party leaders are now trying to avoid all controversial situations. They say that it has nothing to do with the honesty of the govt. Rather, experts opine ," If Manik is too much honest, why will he permit the waste of govt money simply to promote himself. Recently State Govt published a book entitled ' Tripura Chief Minister at the National Forum(1998-2013)' ? What impact will it have on the people of Tripura? What is its significance in regard to Statehood Day? This is nothing but a sheer attempt to alter the attention of the people towards non-important issues. Actually the book "Tripura Chief Minister at National Forum" is nothing but a pre-pkanbed game of Manik lobby to to protect his 'white(?)' image especially after massive scams. And the silence of CM on corruption issues only add to the fuel .
