AGARTALA, February 16 (TIWN): Indigenous Nationalist Party of Tripura (INPT) makes its candidates lists ready for declaration in wake of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) election slated to be held on the month of May or during the last of April. Talking to TIWN today INPT General Secretary (GS) Jagadish Debbarma said that this year the INPT has an idea to field at least 5 to 6 women candidates durinh the ADC election. The entire ground work is ready for declaration, Debbarma told to TIWN.

The INPT has made ready its candidates lists for declaration in wake of ADC election, knocking at the door,  with the party likely to go for past one and haalf decades alliance with the congress. After all the demand for the direct funding to the TTAADC has been on a priority list of both the party. Alliance with Congress in past one and a half-decades did not yield any positive result for INPT, rather weakened their own programme. It is mentionable here that despite having serious discontent among the tribals on left front government in Tripura for past 22 years, opposition could not even manage to secure their victory in all 20 tribal dominated assembly constituencies in the 60-member House because of leadership crisis and lack of commitment to public sufferings.

Besides, the Pradesh Congress here with its new chief Birajit Sinha has been moving on their own path to reconstitute their party and the only policy, “to strengthen party and its policy”. However, it would be wise enough to mention here that according to the political analysis, the ADC election stands as no importanrt for the party congress here. After all Birajit has always been laying stress on strengthening their party and its policy first and the rest later. “Alliance must not be our top most priority, rather than strengthening our party, we have decided to talk to Narayanswami in regrad of alliance with any other regional party here”, Birajit told to TIWN today.

“INPT has acceptability among the tribals and even the leftists because the party, since beginning, has been fighting for establishment of rights and talks about the sufferings of the tribal community,” Debbarma said, adding that since the party did not fight alone, people voted for CPI-M. However,in order to pass the Empowerment to TTAADC, and Kokborok language of 8 schedules of Constituency bills, a delegation of Indigenous Nationalist Party of Tripura (INPT) is likely to visit Delhi to hold a meeting with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi very soon, said general secretary of INPT- Jagadish Debbarma earlier.

However, it is also mentionable here that  election to the 28-member autonomous district council (ADC) for tribals is drawing near and the Opposition parties have launched programmes to mobilise support of the indigenous communities. While the regional Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT)has been campaigning for a separate state, the Indigenous Nationalist Party of Tripura (INPT), the other regional party, has been holding rallies across the hilly areas of the state.
