TIWN

AGARTALA, February 11 (TIWN): When the ADC election here in Tripura has been knocking at the door, the BSF has made ready their forces to keep a strict vigil along the bordering areas of the state in wake restricting any kind of untoward incidents. “We have asked our soldiers to keep a close watch on the border situation. Our men remained vigilant round-the-clock along the borders, especially in the ADC areas”, BSF IG B N Sharma told to TIWN today.

The BSF security forces are made ready to keep an eagle-eye along the bordering areas of Tripura in view of ADC election here in Tripura slated to be held on the month of May or the first week of April. Talking to TIWN today BSF IG B N Sharma said that the BSF is all set to deploy extra security forces to keep a strict vigilance along the bordering areas of the state. “We are looking forward to set up more operations in the ADC areas especially in view of the election coming near”, said Sharma.

“However, the porous border will be fenced soon. As of now, we are focusing on the successful completion of the fencing work to ensure full proof surveillance”, he said. Sharma further said that “we are dedicated to ensure that BSF carries out the duties entrusted to it so that peace prevailing in the state is not disturbed at any cost”.

However, but it is mentionable here that ahead of Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) poll slated to be held this year, extremists’ activities have started surfacing again in Tripura, reminding the militant violence and deadly ethnic conflicts and destruction of peaceful co-existence between tribal and non-tribal people in 2000, with abduction of villagers and construction workers engaged in border fencing work in demand of subscriptions.

According to the sources the terrorist outfits of Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, Manipur and Nagaland have set up their camps and hideouts in different parts of Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) (in southeast Bangladesh) and Moulvibazar and Sylhet districts (under Sylhet division in northeastern Bangladesh).
