AGARTALA, February 11 (TIWN): Agartala Book Fair 2015 will be free from plastic materials. Chief Minister Manik Sarkar will inaugurate the 33rd Agartala Book at Umakanta Academy. The book fair will begin from February 13 and will continue up to February 24 next.
Speaking to the media persons today at Agartala Press Club minister for information and cultural affairs Bhanulal Saha said that altogether 119 stalls will be opened in the fair. 3 stalls from New Delhi, 42 stalls from Kolkata, 1 from Mumbai, 1 from Kerala, 4 from Guwahati, 1 from Bangladesh and 67 from Agartala will participate in the fair, the minister informed.
He further said that thousands of avid readers flocked to the book fair in Agartala that not only displays books of the state, but also provides a platform for an interaction between both readers and writers. Book fair is a great event of attraction for the intelligent and book lovers, he added.
Like previous years, apart from the selection of three best stalls. Goutam Debbarma, Shyamal Baidya, Nitai Acharjee, Dilip Das, Tripurendra Bhowmik, Snehamay Roy Choudhury, Subhrangsu Chakraborty and Ajit Ranjan Majumder will be awarded during the 12 day long Agartala Book Fair, Saha said.
This year also several cultural programmes including writer’s conference will be organized in the book fair.
