AGARTALA, Sep 17 (TIWN): A tense situation unfolded in Udaipur Khilpara on the eve of Vishwakarma Puja, following a clash between migrant workers from West Bengal and local youths. According to reports, Pintu Shekh, a laborer from Murshidabad, West Bengal, had arrived in Udaipur Khilpara with plastic goods. When he stopped his vehicle in the Vaishnavichar area to unload the goods, a dispute arose with a local youth over parking space.

The situation quickly escalated, and a group of youths allegedly attacked Pintu Shekh, leaving him injured. The Udaipur fire department was informed, and their team rushed to the scene, taking the injured laborer to Gomati District Hospital.

However, the matter didn't end there. A group of 20-25 local youths later attacked a nearby house where some laborers from Murshidabad were resting, beating them up and damaging their belongings. The reason behind the attack, according to the laborers, was the locals' resentment towards the presence of migrant workers in the area.

The situation became increasingly volatile, prompting a massive police deployment, including CRPF and TSR personnel. Senior police officials, including the Superintendent of Police and the Sub-Divisional Police Officer, rushed to the scene to restore order. After a tense standoff, the situation was eventually brought under control. The police are now investigating the incident and working to maintain peace in the area.
