AGARTALA, Sep 14 (TIWN): In the run-up to Durga Puja, Teliamura's potter community is buzzing with activity.

Among them is Dipak Debnath, a skilled artisan from Netaji Nagar, who has been crafting Durga idols for 22 years. What's remarkable is that Debnath's 12-year-old son, Debjit, has joined him in his craft, learning the intricacies of idol-making.

Debjit, a Class V student at Teliamura English Medium School, is seen enthusiastically assisting his father in shaping the clay idols. This father-son duo is a testament to the passing down of artistic legacy from one generation to the next.

According to Dipak Debnath, demand for his idols has increased this year, despite a rise in raw material costs. However, with the number of pujas increasing, he is hopeful of making a profit. Debnath's craftsmanship has earned him recognition, and his idols are sought after by puja organizers.

The collaboration between experienced hands and fresh enthusiasm is adding a new dimension to the Puja celebrations. As Debjit learns the art from his father, he is not only carrying forward the family legacy but also contributing to the cultural heritage of Teliamura.
