AGARTALA, Sep 12 (TIWN): The three-day Neermahal Water Festival 2025 has commenced in Tripura, with State Higher Education and Panchayat Minister Kishore Barman inaugurating the event. Minister Barman emphasized the significance of this festival for the locals, likening its importance to other major celebrations like Mansamangal and Durga Puja.

The festival is jointly organized by the Tripura Tourism Development Corporation, Information and Cultural Affairs Department, Sepahijala District Council, Melaghar Municipal Council, and Sepahijala District Administration. Notable attendees at the inauguration included MDC Padmalochan Tripura, Sepahijala District Council's Vice Chairman Pintu Aich, and Tripura Tourism Development Corporation's Managing Director Prashant Kumar Negi.

A special boat racing competition will be held on the final day of the festival, with the Chief Minister and other dignitaries expected to attend. The event aims to promote cultural appreciation and community bonding.
