AGARTALA, Sep 10 (TIWN): A controversy has erupted in Bamutia, Tripura, involving Deepak Bhowmik, a ration dealer accused of misusing the name of the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Mohanpur to file false cases against local youths. Bhowmik allegedly filed these cases against six individuals, including the family members of another ration dealer, Suman Sarkar, with whom he has a long-standing dispute.

The dispute began when Bhowmik's son, Jayanta Bhowmik, a TSR jawan, clashed with Sarkar's brother-in-law and other local youths at a playground. Although the matter was settled through a local mediation, Bhowmik went on to file false cases against Sarkar's family and the youths, using forged signatures and seals of local panchayat members.

The affected youths have approached the panchayat, which has summoned both parties. However, Bhowmik failed to appear. The issue has sparked widespread outrage in the area, with locals demanding action against Bhowmik for his alleged misdeeds.

Local residents are now calling for the SDM Mohanpur to intervene and take action against Bhowmik to prevent further harassment of innocent youths. The incident has raised concerns about the misuse of power and the need for accountability in the region.
