NEW DELHI / AGARTALA, February 11 (TIWN): In a quite unexpected way Tripura CM Manik Sarkar by inviting a press conference in Party's state headquarters Melarmath on Tuesday evening congratulated Aam Admi Party(AAP) and especially Arvind Kejariwal for the landslides victory in Delhi Assembly election by winning 67 seats out of 70 , probably the biggest merging of win as far as seats are concerned in the country's history. As the day progressed one by one PM Narendra Modi, BJP's Chief Ministerial candidate Kiran Verdi, Congress President Sonia Gandhi , CPI(M) General Secretary Prakash Karat and almost all the senior leaders of different political parties congratulated Arvind Kejariwal on Tuesday.

Usually CPI(M) party's Tripura unit does not invite any press conference after the completion of any assembly poll other parts of the country. Thus, what prompted Manik Sarkar to brief the media on AAPs victory still remains a mystery.  NOTA got more votes than the CPIM led Left parties in 12 seats ( out of 15). And CPI(M) hardly managed to get a total number of 1100 votes in the three constituencies that it fought in Delhi.

As usual Manik Sarkar claimed that BJP's corporate based politics is the main reason behind its massive defeat in Delhi.

Manik Sarkar said," Since Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister of India after BJP's victory in Lok Sabha poll with the promise of 'Achche Din' the country has been witnessing the alarming rise of the fanatics groups, corporates' controlled policies of the govt and the condition of the common man especially due to rising inflation is going from bad to worse. " He said that during the last eight or nine months BJP was patronizing the imperialists and corporates and quite naturally the people gradually started to shift their loyalty from BJP to AAP. Manik said," Like Congress BJP too is moving forward with the policies of the Congress and this election is a clear indication that even now Congress has failed to regain the confidence of the people towards it. And as such Congress did not even win a single seat in Delhi though the party had succeeded to win 8 seats in the last Assembly Election."

Manik Sarkar categorically mentioned ,"There is a huge difference between the situations that prevailed in Delhi 14 months before and the situations now exist. Congress has yet to learn from its mistakes and till Congress is moving in opposite direction. The people of Delhi in this election tried to evaluate the performance of the Modi led BJP Govt as well as the negative approach of the Congress."

Sarkar blamed, " During the Lok Sabha poll BJP promised the people of this country that it would bring down the prices of consumer items but has failed to make its impact on this ground. Rather it has curtailed the funds in MGNREGA in almost all the states and as such the impact on the rural economy is clearly visible. The working class is really very angry with such policies." But Manik Sarkar also warned that it would highly impractical to expect anything from this govt which is chiefly working with the purpose of protecting the interests of the corporate sectors.

Manik Sarkar said ," In a purely undemocratic way, ignorinring the Parliament, by means of ordinance BJP is trying to enforce some decisions on the countrymen. And already attempts have been made in Land Acquistion Bill. This totally reveals the dictorial attidue of this govt. And the current givt is less interested in country's development. Rather, its sole purpose has been to promote Hindutva. The rise of Hindu fanaticism is really dangerous for the over all secular pattern of the country. Already attacks were made against church and 'Hindutva' has become the main agenda of the BJP. The party is trying to divide the people in the name of religion ( spreading communal ideologies). The common men are of course against such communal aggression and the results of Delhi indicate that people have stated to raise their voice against this type of religious fanaticism."

Blaming the Congress on corruption issues Manik Sarkar said that Congress does not seem to repent for its failure in combating corruption. The economic policies of the Congress likes of FDI are being consciously moved forward by the BJP and as such Congress too remains silent. Manik Sarkar expressed that encouraged by the performance of AAP , the Left Democratic parties have once again started to dream of a new alternative at the centre. But Sarkar said ," Everything will depend on how AAP works and succeeds to rise upto the expectations of the people. And time has not yet to come to think of it right now. We have to wait for this."

Though Manik Sarkar spent much time in criticising the BJP and the Congress for their negative roles and poor performance , he did not utter a single word to explain the reason for the poor performance of the Left parties in Delhi. In this election CPI(M) formed an alliance with 14 Left parties and unitedly contested the election. But out of 15 seats in the alliance contested, not even in a single seat the alliance succeeded to save its deposits.

More interestingly NOTA got more votes than the Left parties in 12 seats ( out of 15). And CPI(M) hardly managed to get a total number of 1100 votes in the three constituencies that it fought.

Let's have a look on Left parties' performance in Delhi :-

Assembly            LF Votes            NOTA

---------           ------------         --------

CPI(M)

--------

Dwarka            264.               332

Burari              141.                215

Karwal Nagar        712.            888

   CPI

   ------

Tunaripur.        542.               555

Ballimaran.       644.               304

Palam            488.               475

Trilokpuri.         380.               467

Krishanagar       339.               358

 CPI(ML)

  -----------

Narela.           339.                704

Wazirpur.         183.                468

Kondli.            208.               417

  All India Forward Block

  -----------------------

Mundka.           47.               536

Nangloijai.          44.               425

           SUCI(C)

         ------------

Badli.             947.               713

Sadar Bazaar.      130.               412

From the above stats it is clear that only Ballimaran, Palam and in Badli Assembly seats Left parties CPI and SUCI; not CPI(M) managed to get more votes than even NOTA. But during his long speech Manik Sarkar did not mention this even for a single time. Manik could probably foresee that once again his party (outside Tripura) performed badly forfeiting its deposits and even getting lesser number of virus that NOTA.
