Police Busted Thieves’ Gang that was Operating Statewide : One Police Official was Injured in Gang Attack during the Operation at Border Gol Chakkar

AGARTALA, Aug 19 (TIWN): In another major success, West PS Police arrested thief-gang members who have been operating statewide in Tripura and involved in various theft cases that occurred recently. The thieves' gang also attacked a police official during the raid on Monday, as the gang members are large in numbers. Police suspect that at least 7 to 8 people are actively involved in this gang and operating in various parts of the state. As of Tuesday, 4 persons were arrested by police, and other gang members are on the police's radar.

Talking to the media, SDPO Druba Nath said, the gang’s movement was noticed on Monday night in the Border Gol Chakkar area, and West PS OC – Rana Chatterjee was informed about this. Based on the information, Ramanagar and West PS police team reached the spot, and when the police tried to catch them, they attacked the police with sharp weapons, leaving one police constable seriously injured.

But police successfully arrested at least 4 persons on the spot.

Two arrested persons were identified as Shakil Mia, Mintu Rudra Pal and the rest of the gang members managed to escape from the spot. Police continued to raid after the incident, and ultimately, two more persons were arrested.

Gold items, bikes were recovered by police in the raid.

Two others of them --- Akash Das and Jhutan Das were arrested in separate places.

“The thieves have accepted that they are involved in various theft cases that happened recently, including the Bishalgarh bypass, Udaipur, and various places in Agartala,” said SDPO.

The arrested persons were taken into police custody.
