AGARTALA, Aug 16 (TIWN): A man was caught with his own baby while heading towards the bathroom at GB hospital, but the baby was being carried in a shopping bag. The brutal incident happened at the IGM hospital, and his wife’s statement has not been received yet.

An investigating police official said nothing could be said right now, but it was alleged that his wife had just delivered a baby, and the husband had attacked her. On the other hand, it was also said that he came later and his wife was inside the hospital.

However, the cop had just arrived, and so he could not say anything without questioning the accused father.

"I came to the hospital for a checkup. I did not kill him (the baby), and he died. I did not kill him until he died...." the man named Nipu Das, resident of Mohanpur, said.

His statement was absurd, and while talking to the media, he failed to give any proper answer.

It was alleged that Nipu Das gave medicine to his wife, and on being asked, he said he only gave a painkiller as she was suffering from tooth pain. 

Nipu Das was also confident of his wife, Shipli Das, and asked the media to ask her if he was guilty.

It is suspected that the delivery happened without any doctor's presence, most likely outside the hospital, and later the couple came to the hospital for treatment after delivery.
