AGARTALA, July 9 (TIWN): The overall report on the trade union strike day says Tripura performed a mixed response to it. Whereas there was no massive enthusiasm among the public to support the BJP government against the strike, there was not much urgency among the public to support the opposition CPI-M that has directly backed the trade union strike. At the same time whole day of rain across the state has been credited for the trade union strike’s minor success.

Although there was no opposition picketer on the ground but in various districts, the BJP workers were deployed protesting the strike.

Talking to common men, small-scale businessmen, some of them could not tell whether the governmental union called the strike or the opposition called for the strike.

An auto driver told the media, he does not support the strike because for him, survival is the main.

“I am a daily worker. I can not observe a strike,” he said, whereas he did not say anything either in support of the government or against the opposition.

Another shopkeeper said he can take a day off as the "market is already bad."

A large number of shops were seen closed in the capital city, Agartala, whereas the government institutions were less crowded.

CPI-M leaders organized a press meet appealing to the ruling BJP “not to attack” the people who supported the strike.

BJP in counterattack, said, the trade union strike was a complete failure.
