Kailashahar, June 30 (TIWN): In a desperate bid to draw attention to their plight, villagers in Kailashahar's Dhaliar Kandi Gram Panchayat area have blocked the Tilabazar-Baburbazar road and Tilabazar-Dhaliar Kandi road, protesting against the private electricity provider, Sai Computer Limited. The blockade, which began on Monday morning, has brought traffic to a standstill and caused inconvenience to commuters.
The villagers have been grappling with low voltage electricity supply for several years, making it challenging for them to use basic appliances like lights and fans. Despite paying their electricity bills regularly, the villagers have not seen any improvement in the service. The low voltage supply has also affected the operation of pump machines, leading to a severe drinking water shortage in the area.
The villagers claim that they have repeatedly approached Sai Computer Limited and local authorities, but no effective action has been taken to address their grievances. The protesters, who were joined by a large number of villagers, became violent when police personnel from the Irani police station and TSR forces arrived at the scene. They burned vehicle tires on the road, expressing their frustration and anger.
The protesters refused to engage in discussions with the police, demanding that Sai Computer Limited take immediate action to normalize the electricity supply in the area. "We will continue the blockade until the electricity provider takes concrete steps to address our grievances," said a protester.
The situation remains tense, with the blockade causing disruptions to daily life and economic activities in the area. It remains to be seen how the authorities will respond to the villagers' demands and work towards resolving the issue.
