AGARTALA, June 17 (TIWN): West Agartala police on Tuesday detained over eighty people who were found intoxicated either on drugs or with other consumptions, including liquors. This time, police would take NGOs’ help, aiming to cure the addicted persons with a complete recovery from drug addiction. Out of the total of eight detained people, forty-eight have been caught by East and West Agartala police.
Police said, this is a special driver dedicated to achieving goal of making Tripura drug-free.
Talking to media, SP West Tripura, Kiran Kumar said, “Until the demands are down, the supplies of drugs to continue. So we have to counter the problem from both sides by stopping the supply as well as squeezing the demands. When demand is low, the supply will automatically go down.”
“That is what our chief minister wants and our DGP wants too,” the cop told media.
Kumar mentioned that the drug addicts are mostly choosing the empty spaces in the capital city, covering areas such as Lake Chowmuhani, College Tila, Gol Bazar.
Police are planning for drug addicted people’s counselling to cure them from drug addiction.
